Challenge Adventure Camp through Challenge Discovery will involve a week long – 5 full days of camp, culminating in an overnight camping trip at Powhatan State Park! We are seeking teens, aged 13-16 who are ready for a week of challenging, but rewarding adventures in and around the Richmond area. Each day will have a focus on different camping, hiking, river, and climbing skills!
Spend a week having fun and challenging yourself with Challenge Adventure Camp from Challenge Discovery! Challenge Adventure Camp is for teens ages 13-16. The week is packed with a variety of activities at Challenge Discovery and around the Richmond area that culminates in an overnight camping trip at Powhatan State Park. Campers will be working as a team to overcome obstacles and high ropes challenges and have a chance to zip-line off a 30 foot platform. Campers will get to put these team building and leadership skills to use when they go camping. They will spend time kayaking, hiking, and navigating with a compass, and enjoy local programming with park rangers. When campers are on the James River they will learn about river safety while floating and kayaking.

- Location – University of Richmond Odyssey Ropes Course; 1600 UR Drive
- Adventure – High Ropes Course Climbing, Exposure to Equipment, Hiking around UR campus
- Tuesday 6/9/26
- Location – Robious Landing Park; 3800 James River Rd, Midlothian, VA 23113
- Adventure – Orienteering Course and other hiking skills, floating a short stretch of the James River with lifejackets, searching for critters in a creek
- Wednesday 6/10/26
- Location – University of Richmond Odyssey Ropes Course; 1600 UR Drive
- Adventure – High Ropes Course Climbing and Zipline, Additional Low Ropes Activities, and further skills around camping equipment

- Location – Powhatan State Park; 4616 Powhatan State Park Rd, Powhatan, VA 23139
- Adventure – Kayaking a 4.5 mile fun flat-water stretch of the James River; Setting up sites at campground; Afternoon and evening activities, dinner, and evening firefly hayride event held at Powhatan State Park

- Adventure – breakfast together, Atlatl Axe throwing program (led by Powhatan SP staff), packing up camp, finishing the day with hiking in the forest and a final camp group activity
What will I need?
- Food: campers will bring their own lunch, snacks, and refillable water bottles each day. For the overnight camping at Powhatan SP, we will provide dinner Thursday night and breakfast, lunch, and snacks on Friday.
- We will have access to most of the equipment required for the night of camping.
- Equipment list will be provided the week prior to camp starting.
