TeamOdyssey challenges groups of young people to trust each other, strategize together and achieve more than they ever thought possible. Our facilitators, with 30+ years of experience, guide groups through a series of activities, both on the ground and on the Odyssey High Ropes Course at the University of Richmond. Each program is guided by our Experience. Learn. Grow. Change. methodology, which allows for unique opportunities that provide learning for your students.
Social and emotional learning is a framework that, when adopted by schools, communities and more, can help deliver the crucial social and emotional skills that students need to develop while in school. We can compliment this character development, and support students’ social and emotional growth. CASEL, an organization that has compiled the research and resources for students, parents and teachers alike, have put forth a framework that details five important competencies and skills for students to develop. Team Odyssey focuses on two of these competencies: Self-Awareness and Self-Management.
Thousands of groups have used TeamOdyssey to build stronger, more meaningful bonds.
School groups value Team Odyssey’s results-oriented — and fun! — approach to team building. Plus, our programs are aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning to reinforce concepts students are learning in the classroom.
Youth sports teams thrive on Team Odyssey’s combination of physical challenges and mental agility. By the end of the day, the team will have achieved new levels of mutual trust, communication and collaboration.
College students find that Team Odyssey helps them disconnect from their digital lives and bond on a deeper level. Our programs are popular with freshmen orientation groups, RAs, athletes and volunteers.
Faith-based organizations, such as church youth groups, value Team Odyssey’s principles of trust, respect and leadership.
First, we work with your group’s coordinator to select the program that best fits your number of participants, your goals and the time you have available. Team Odyssey programs typically run between 4 and 5 hours, and rates are generally $50 per person.
On the day of the program, your group will be split into teams of 15 students, each team paired with one of our highly trained facilitators. That facilitator will lead your group through a series of on-the-ground exercises and ropes course challenges, prioritizing safety and inclusiveness throughout everything. By the end of the experience, participants will have discovered new ways to communicate, collaborate and support each other. Along with the perk of learning about the group, students will also discover the character skills to identify and manage their emotions while under stress.
“Like last year, the students at our leadership program loved attending Challenge Discovery. We can tell such a big difference in the way the group interacts before vs. after they’ve been through the course. They all talk more, know each other better and really gel as a group after we’re done!”
– Valerie Vaughan, Virginia Scoiety of CPAs
“The teambuilding activities helped involve the entire group and helped to establish and develop teamwork, leadership as well as a lot of both verbal and nonverbal communication between each other. That is where Challenge Discovery was a great trip that I plan to continue visiting, a fun and safe way to step out of our comfort zone.”
– William Hill, Camp Henrico
